Thanks, it's collected in Superboy: The Boy of Steel by Manapul and Geoff Johns. I've got a few pages from it and it was the first story where Manapul a true star artist
Haha. She's clearly using the same physics as the Lois from the "Can you read my mind" flight scene from Superman 1978.
Love this. Hope you share scans of the final OA from this story
Don't even think about that but I see it now. First thing I thought about was the classic Christopher Reeve image flying above earth at the end of the 1978 movie
Thanks. That makes sense since Murphy was known to redraw all Kirby's faces during his run to match the classic house style. I believe it's fairly rare to have a Superman Kirby face actually drawn by the king himself
Yes, he actually completed all the NYCC commissions at home. Such great quality and literally the only traditional art out there as all his work is digital
Thanks, I was definitely determined to bring this one home
So jealous, I've been trying to get something from Jamal for years. Congrats
Wow, very jealous of this. Well done Fred
Unfortunately no. This was actually done for megacon but he had to cancel. He told me this was primarily ink wash and some minimal colored pencils
I think it's pretty obvious, Superman. Captain Marvel is great but kinda derivative.
I always wonder where the OA to this was. I've had a print of this for years and is now hanging in my daughters room. Thanks for sharing
Thanks. Let me know if you ever get tired of your page. I think they make a great pair
Seriously, you need to start the Dan Mora fan club. Great meeting at the show Jim
I think I heard he's splitting art duty with Jamal Campbell for the new volume
Both. She's been around since the 1950s and was Clark's romantic interest during his college years. Before this John Byrne reintroduced her during his run on Superman
Yes agreed, no costume or specifics requested by me. Pleasantly surprised by it
I was wondering who picked this up. Well done. I picked one up as well but not nearly as nice. If you ever want to sell...
Exactly. I was so surprised by this one. Especially that he was able to bring energy without resorting to the red eyed angry superman most artist resort to. So good
Correct. Beginning with their work on Superman, Ivan Reis and Joe Prado started separating their work. Pencils on one board and inks over blueline on another. I luckily own both to keep the set together. Thanks
As a huge Superman fan, I'm ashamed to say I didn't even notice that until now
Haha. Hopefully they're saving Richard Lester's memory wiping kiss for the sequel
Completely offended. But seriously that's a great cover, I was very tempted to purchase it when he had it for sale at NYCC 2018. Congrats as well
Answer straight from Jon: "I’m sorry to say, I think they are all random, made-up Metropolitans in the crowd. The only page I filled with real people was that double page splash."
Ha, great idea. That was my first question once I had the page in hand. I assume he put friends and colleagues in the panel. Reminds me of the Superman vs Ali cover. I may have to reach out to Jon to find out
Loved the heart shaped balloons and how they bring a different tone to the dialog. They even change it in the last panel right before she gives up her alias. Yeah didn't even realize it was Murphy Anderson until I brought the page home and looked it up. Loved his inking with Curt Swan and he pairs so well with Gammill here.
To be honest I didn't even pay attention to that, kinda spaced since it'd been so long without a major con. Originally wanted a Harley remark but couldn't even remember to ask for it. At least I remembered to take a photo
Yeah, great question. I don't have them. Curious if they were done digitally or on a separate board?
Ha, yeah minor gripe but just never a huge fan of the high collar and armor aspects. Thanks
Thanks, yeah I asked for a battle damaged DD with radar. He really put a little extra into this one
Yeah he only sold 10 opps and they went quick. Congrats on the page I have no doubt the book is gonna be great.
