Re: Terra
When I met George Perez to get my Terra, he asked if I wanted her with a cigarette or not. Bring a non-smoker myself, I stated no cigarette please. As he was drawing, we chatted about the Titans. As he was almost finished I asked him about the cigarette. George stated that it was a visual to depict that Terra was a tough/bad girl. After he told me that, I regretted not going the cigarette option. To make it up, I specifically asked Kevin Maguire to add the cigarette, which you picked up as "the evil look".
Yes he does. I couldn't decide which character to get from him since I already had headshots of his staple requests (Batman & Joker). My CAF friend, Justin, recommended The Hulk, and I like the Hulk, so I went for it. Boy, did David deliver. I waited in line a little over 3 hours for this, and David almost put an hour into this with a few pauses to talk to some of the other creators that stopped by while he was working on this. David SMASH!
Kerry was first, and Rudy went second.
Thanks! And I love the coy seductive look that says that she is up to no good.
Thanks! Was on Sal's waiting list for over a year. But well worth the wait.
Thanks! After 2.5 years away from cons, finally able to get done more of my jams completed. A labor of love for sure.
Thanks! Brent did 31 days of horror/villain characters for the month of October (that is why it is numbered 11/31). When I went to check Brent's website out, this was still available, which I couldn't believe. I was missing a Morbius depiction in my collection, so I pulled the trigger. Brent is a talented artist.
Thanks! Alex was super easy to work with, and he had a pretty quick turnaround. More Frightful Four coming soon.
Why would you have an artist draw a DC character on a Marvel themed paper? Odd.
Thank you! Yes, I too love Bret’s work. I was debating on asking him to either do Doctor Strange or the Hulk. But, Golden was at the same show, so it depended if I could get on Mike Golden’s list or not. I wanted Mike’s Doctor Strange, so the default was for Bret to do the Hulk. Plus, I already have a Doc Strange commission from Bret. When I came back and requested the Hulk from Bret, he stated he liked drawing the Hulk with heavy brow like Jack Kirby intended. My reply, “Awesome!” And the final result, well awesome!
1994 Skybox VERTIGO Gold Foil Special Insert Card Swamp Thing #I
How can one not love Ramona’s classic style? Simply perfect.
I agree! Transformation pieces can be tough to pull off, but Don makes it look effortlessly! Fantastic commission!
A special thanks to CAF members, Justin and Dave for helping me get this jam while it was work in progress from AA. Art had it for over a year and a half, which delayed getting this jam completed. By Dave picking it up for me at a show Art attended, I trimmed off who knows how much longer Art would have had it. Hey, great artists have long wait lists, and to me, it was worth the wait. I think Art felt bad for the delay, because you can see the love he put into Wanda. After all Art does not lose art 😉. I still owe you one Dave!
Thanks! I did not receive the prelim. Paris emailed me 3 different prelims to choose from after I provided him a basic concept. I chose the prelim image I attached, but with one modification request (move the arm from in front of the chest to the side). Long story short, the original prelim and sketch were destroyed by the TSA, resulting in sketch not being able to be picked up at a show. Paris had to redo the sketch using the photo as the prelim. Paris was extremely easy to work with through the entire process.
No comments on such a stellar piece?!? Wow! Nothing says “power hungry villain” more than Dr Von Doom sitting on his throne. Bob executed this perfectly, and I love the angle. Congrats!
Grail piece indeed! Stunning! Was there any words unfmder they name paste ups? Curious if they originally were going to have different names. This is one original page I would love to own.
Thank you. I have a terrible scanner that added glares and discoloration to all my pieces. I have a pencil prelim of this sketch that I need to upload. Very clean inking on this one.
Matt did an outstanding job sprucing up this sketch. The lighting effect helps her pop off the night time cityscape background. Meow!
I love how you incorporated your signature into this piece Bob! Cheers from AZ ;-)
