My collection all started with the 1992 Marvel Masterpiece trading cards. As a kid I was in awe at the incredible artwork and eye-popping colors of the cards. I remember going through every card with my dad and picking out my favorites, then taking them to school and showing them off on the playground. The card that is most nostalgic for me is the 1992 Magneto by Joe Jusko. The masterful detail, vibrant color, and striking pose that perfectly embody the character’s persona are what drew me to comic art. Fast forward to adulthood as I was looking through my collection and I asked myself, “I wonder if you can buy the original art used for these cards!?” Since then my main areas of interest have been 90s trading card art, comic cover art, and any marvel character painting that really pops off the page.
