DescriptionUpdate! Phase 2 is now online. Click here to see it.I have greatly admired the many incredible jam pieces I've seen here on CAF. I've been wanting to start one of my own for a while, and last year I finally decided to do it. One of my favorite comics is Justice League of America #200. And one of the things I love most about that issue is the terrific George Perez wraparound cover, which you can see below in the additional images. I decided I would base my jam on that cover, and that I'd switch it up by using the Avengers instead of the JLA. I found a nice hi-res picture of the cover online. I borrowed a projector from work, hooked it up to my laptop, taped a couple of boards to my living room wall, and traced all the figures lightly in pencil. One thing I didn't like on the original was Hawkman's position. I know he was fighting Superman, but he looks a little wimpy. So I flipped the Superman figure horizontally and sketched in a Falcon myself. I changed a couple of the other figures as well. Wonder Woman's pose didn't make sense for Ms. Marvel without a magic lasso. And since the Avengers didn't have a stretchy guy ( I didn't count Mr. Fantastic ), I decided to have the Black Panther and Quicksilver heading for an impact. And then I was ready for a con. I started at Wizard World Ohio 2013. I took the pages around to various artists, and they were all receptive to doing a figure in their own styles. An advantage to having a double page spread is I was able to have two guys working on it at once. Here's who did what in Columbus, in order of completion. Michael Golden did Ms. Marvel, and thankfully he changed the pose I sketched into something that actually looks good. Mike McKone did the Vision. Chris Sprouse did Yellowjacket and the Wasp. Ron Garney did Captain America. And then I took the right page back to Mike McKone so he could finish the Vision's foot and cape. I'm very grateful to these four talented gentleman. They got me off to a great start, and I look forward to completing it over the next couple of years. 22x17 Social/Sharing |

Great Start! The Golden is a standout and it is hard beat Garney's Cap. Love it so far and I can't wait to see it progress.

Love this...I can hardly wait to see updates on its progress, GREAT selection of artists so far...you gotta get Sprouse to do one full sized figure though......he's to darn good for just the little guys!
