DescriptionWith big family changes looming for Mr. and Mrs. Two in One in the very near future (eep!), I decided to do a hobby 'victory lap' (for lack of a better term) by getting a few selected pieces drawn by my very favorite commission artists while life still afforded me the opportunity.Top of my list of favorite artists is the great Ernie Chan. Ernie has done by far the most commissions in my collection (over two dozen!) and is a complete joy to deal with each and every time. Always great communication, great prices, quick turnaround and - above all else - gorgeous artwork that exceeds my high expectations when all is said and done. I told Ernie that I wanted to pull out all the stops on a big 'hobby retirement' commission - so a double page spread with everything AND the kitchen sink thrown in the mix. He came through with flying colors, I do believe. In terms of the characters and setting, I proposed another of my Marvel Two in One 'What If' scenarios (i.e. stories I wish Marvel had done back in the day, but unfortunately never did) in which the ever-lovin' Thing teams up with Werewolf by Night and travels to the red planet to help John Carter (Warlord of Mars) fend off an army of bad guys culled from the Marvel back catalogue. What you see here is the full size inked stage of this commission. This commission is a huge 22" x 17" inches. The main characters found on these pages are: (top half, l-r): - John Carter (flying around with his jet pack) - Kamo Tharn's molten creature (rising out of the water - he appeared in Champions # 13) - Stara Kan (John Carter villain with a mechanical arm who can be seen piloting the walking machine on the far right side). (bottom half, l to r): - Badoon henchmen (they were a major alien race like the Kree or the Skrulls at Marvel in the 1970s, then disappeared from the Marvel universe without much fanfare) - the ever-lovin', blue-eyed Thing - Werewolf by Night - Tars Tarkas (fighting the Badoon with his four arms) - Dejah Thoris (with the spear) - the Lord-sire of the Badoon (signalling his troops to advance in the bottom right corner). Rest in peace, Ernie. You are greatly missed. Social/Sharing |

This piece is absolutely phenomenal. Both you and Ernie should take a bow.

This is a super idea! I love seeing the Thing and Werewolf by Night fighting side-by-side, and in astronaut suits no less. This will certainly be something to savor as you enter into a new phase of your life (congrats, I assume!).

I love the "What If" Two In One theme. Just superb. And this piece is phenomenal. Don't be surprised if the One Minute Later guy heists it right out of your home one night.

Ernie is a time machine unto himself. He's somehow taken me back to the '70's with something completely new. I love your gallery and it has helped inspire me to (re)start a theme of my own.
