DescriptionWay Beyond the Grail!!!24 years ago I experienced a Graphic Novel that exceeded everything that came before it. It was a synthesis of masterful writing, a haunting, poignant story, exquisitely elegant art and the most beautiful colors ever put to paper. This labor of love was the collaboration of a renowned writer/artist and his colorist (at the time) wife at the height of their creative powers. I had been wanting a page from Frank Miller and Lynn Varley's Elektra Lives Again for 24 years long years. It is for me Frank at the top of his game in terms of Art and Storytelling. Everything that came before from his rejuvenation of Daredevil to his experimentation in Ronin to his Genre redefining Dark Knight evolved into this oeuvre of haunted love, supernatural forces, extraordinary battles and one man's quest for resolution and peace. Patience, Persistence and Sacrifice have finally paid off. I have just received THE PAGE of my choosing which I consider THE BEST action page in this incredible work where every page is a distinct masterpiece. It is Perfect in concept, layout and extreme execution (oh, the Pun IS Intended!!!) All the classic Miller elements are here: Elektra arises from a snowy graveyard to take on and dispatch a cadre of deadly Ninja Assassins from the Hand. For me, it gets no better! As Scott Williams wrote about another page from this work, "This is the rarest of the rare and the best of the best.” That whole sequence is drawn directly on vellum. Frank used a lot of different papers on this story. He liked to use vellum for the way the ink ran over the paper. What Frank did is do a quick marker payout on a sheet of tracing paper, he then laid the heavier vellum over that, penciled and inked the art on the vellum. Unfortunately, on page 28 he used carpet tape to piece together 2 halves, and there is a 2 inch glue stain across the middle of the art. The first panel was used as the advertising poster to this Epic work. Profound gratitude and thanks to Frank and Lynn for creating this, Mitch for facilitating the transaction, my Friend and OA Spiritual Adviser A for the funding and my Friend and confidant J for the support. "carpet tape to piece together 2 halves."
On vellum paper.
Sometime artists pulling stuff like this should be made to kneel over spent cheap markers and rolls of cheap tape.
This said, jaw-dropping page and uber-Grail indeed!

Hey E,
Perhaps so. When I told another artist friend about this, he replied, “ Yes, we are Barbarians!”.
Thanks to a superb conservator, it has been brought back as best as possible.
I am very happy with the final product!

How sick are you! As sick as this piece is biblical! Miller at the pinnacle of his legend with Elektra ready to annihilate every Hand Ninja doomed to battle her! Congrats and thanks for the story! Love that a true fan refused to give this piece anything but a second chance to be seen the way it deserves!

AMAZING page, and I agree with you: this is the best work Miller ever drew.
