DescriptionCheck out this great Bronze Age 1978 battle cover, which was drawn with detailed pencils by the great John Byrne, and inked by Ricardo Villamonte, from the story titled: "Call Him Animus-- Call Him Death!" This superb cover features a train jumping off its tracks over a river as the evil ANIMUS blasts Captain America off the train! There are 2 horizontal bends at very top and very bottom of the art board that thankfully do not each into the drawn cover area. there is a very light rippling of the art in upper left of logo area that reaches the top of the drawn train but it is very minimal. Compare this nice cover art also to the published comic book in the red link above! It fascinates me how from growing up in the 1970s as a kid with little money, I had to work on my paper route to have funds to buy all of the comics I loved as a kid. And growing older I was able to buy more expensive comics as I saved my money while in the U.S. Army at West Point from 1985-1989 and I was able to finally buy my very first pages of comic art in 1989 and it has been an unbelievable roller coaster ride ever since that point trying to find the Amazing Spiderman #1-297 pages and Spiderman strip art from 1-3-1977 to 11-9-1980 I love so dearly and covet!! |
