We start collecting original artwork for a whole variety of reasons: investment, nostalgia, a particular artist. My own reasons have to do mostly with nostalgia, therefore you will find many pieces from the UK comics that I read as a child. Of these, my "Lowrie" would be the piece from the Kit Carson Christmas Annual by Jordi Penalva. Why? Because of the feelings of pleasure that the Kit Carson Annual gave me on Christmas morning when I would look first at the stunning colour plates (of which this is one) and then read every word of the stories starting with the picture strips and then working my way to the text stories. I would be failing my younger self if this were not so. But as we get older tastes change, and along comes Massimo Carnevale with his wry sense of humour, or Boris & Julie's anatomically detailed drawings. And then again - it's FUN.
