I have been buying original art, very casually, for the past 20 years (I have been collecting comics themselves for the 30 years or more, since I was a wee kid).
I don't go after 'market trends' and primarily try to buy what catches my fancy : a fondly remembered story perhaps, an artist whom I admire very much, a page with a catchy design, etc. I love diversity and I sit for hours starting at art (I draw myself, as I have been trained as an Industrial Designer).
I don't try to limit myself, but as budget is not infinite and stretchable like Mr. Fantastic, I tend to buy affordable but meaningful pages. From time to time, I'll splurge and get something more expensive...
