Hela vs. Mister Miracle by Cory Smith and Simon Gough

After seeing a series of Jack Kirby character sketch cards that Cory Smith drew, I knew that I wanted him to do an Asgard/Fourth World commission. I sent Cory a few possibilities to choose from and he went with Hela and Mister Miracle. If this was a cover, the caption would be "He Escaped Apokolips, But Can He Escape Hel?!?" And it would make a great cover! I LOVE how Hela looks here, looming over Mister Miracle with her evil grin. And poor Scott Free looks appropriately panicked as the various claws and tentacles attempt to keep him in Hel. Cory knocked it out of the park here and I'm definitely planning on commissioning him again.

So, do I think that Scott Free could actually escape death? Could he outwit Hela? Of course he could! Though I do think it would take a while, and if it took too long, Big Barda would probably attack Hel and destroy the place.

If you like this piece then by all means go commission Cory yourself.
