This short brilliant period of Raymond's use of both this particular brushwork style and the largest scale he would ever draw illustrates the zenith of the American Comic strip. Unsurpassed.

According to Dave Sim in Glamourpuss #2, Raymond abandoned this style because much of the detail was lost when it went through the reproduction/coloring process.

This is just gorgeous. While I like Raymond's later work, this early period of dry brushstrokes really speaks to me. Just an exquisite example. Congrats.
