DescriptionI really loved this story, "Devil-Wings Over Shadizar" , when Barry really began to shine on Conan. I love this final page which is very cinematic, long shot panning to close up and then back to a wide long shot. The central head shot is the Conan of the 70s I remember and love. The dialogue is perfect too, as it sums up the story and the zeitgeist of the series...Lastly, I may write an essay on the topic of how art that I buy to put in a portfolio is different than art I buy to frame and hang (like this one). There are certainly more 'complicated' and filled Conan pages, but I think less is more here, especially since I wanted something I could frame. As art becomes more expensive, I think its ability to look good hanging up will become more important.Social/Sharing |

This was the first BWS Conan story I ever read, and I still think it's one of the best issues from his run - congrats!

She got the gold, but at least Conan got the dreams. If they were in Cali, she would of got half of that too!

Awesome page that really captures the charm and coolness of Roy Thomas' early characterization of Conan--we're so used to anti-heroes these days, I think it's lost on many of us just how much of a rogue Conan was by 1970s comic book standards. Fantastic storytelling, perfect inks, and of course gorgeous BWS details. Congrats!

Lovely page! Actually I think there is a lot going on here. The full-width panels have a cinematic feel, and the neat trick of increasing panel height as the focus on Conan increases adds to that feel of cinema. Great imagination in the use of space. Sal's inks on Smith are just fantastic.
