DescriptionThis page is from a collaboration between Steve Ditko and his close friend Robin Snyder (who published the magazine The Comics which contains a lot of Ditko content as well as opinions). It is all Ditko and it rocks. The hero itself is an offbeat kind of character so it perhaps fits the Ditko style. I can't say that the Fly was my favorite character but it is a well-established one in Archie comics and was in fact originally a Joe Simon and Jack Kirby collaboration, appearing first, if my memory serves me correctly, in The Double Life of Private Strong before being given his own mag. I was particularly glad to get this piece because it is rather nifty and exhibits all the various poses that Ditko was famous for (including the Amazing Spider-Man and Beware the Creeper). Everything about it can point to his prior works! Even the villain has the well dressed look of the Crime Master and Montana from the Enforcers. Add a dash of Doctor Strange patterns and Dormamu vertical lines to top it off!

Oh, yes! This is a spectacularly drawn page, literally as good if not better than what he did on Spider-Man. His own inking is really fabulous as well and it's so clear that this would set anyone back a few hundred thousand dollars if not for the character being the Fly rather than the Spider. Not that these pages are "cheap" anymore, but they certainly represent incredible value for anyone who desires a great example of Ditko's art!

Many thanks, Rubén! Yes, Ditko was always his best inker. As it turns out, this page was, while as you say not "cheap" anymore, actually quite reasonable, especially given its content and quality. It is of course a shame that prices have escalated so much for original comic art generally. It is no consolation to me that my Ditko ASM pages are now worth so much more because, as is generally acknowledged nowadays, cash in hand means no Ditko ASM forever, whether in the bush or otherwise. Unfortunately, if collectors continue holding on to their pages whether for the reason I have just stated or perhaps even in the hope of even higher "returns", this will result in an even more vicious cycle of escalating prices for Ditko ASM art.
