DescriptionFrom the dawn of mecha. Tezuka introduced the android boy Tetsuwan-Atomu (Astro Boy) in 1951. In 1956, Yokoyama's Tetsujin-28 introduced the first remote-controlled giant humanoid robot weapon. The Devil Garon, serialized in Boken-O (Adventure King) from 1959 to 1962, may be the first sentient giant mecha who carries a human passenger, seeding the army of Transformers, Terminators, and Jaegers to come. See additional image for the published page, which is probably closer to how the colors looked when fresh. It's a collecting dream to acquire this page from the God of Manga, which now sits in the first small circle of my collection. If anybody knows who these fish-head guys are, please fill me in! Rough translation (courtesy of Mr Tim Finney) reading right-to-left, remember:Garon: “Pick [the boy’s name], it’s dangerous. Get inside me.” Garon: “GAROON!!” Fish Head guy: This is great. Garon is coming our way. Garon: What are they doing? Fish Head Guy: Yes. Launch it [Let ‘er rip]! Sound effect: Shururu shuuuu Sound effect BAN! Social/Sharing |

It is, indeed, a dream of a page that would sit in the the first circle of almost any collection. Cheers!

The action and anatomy are both ahead of their time for comics as it looks to have more of the anime feel with how well this is storyboarded by one of the old masters fo the medium.

The effects used in this page are amazing; the lights, the bullets bouncing off, the movement, the colors ... another great choice !
