DescriptionI have been searching for a nice representation of Foster's groundbreaking and classic strip Tarzan from the famed Egyptian sequence, and I found this 1933 example that suited me... fantastic action, pacing, apes, and Tarzan of course... beautifully and elegantly inked and from the preferable early period of this memorable series, before Foster became preoccupied with Prince Valiant for which he would eventually leave this strip. Frazetta loved Foster's Tarzan and was influenced by it.Social/Sharing |

Gorgeous page, Rob! Hal Foster's Tarzan set the standard for many great artists like Frazetta and Williamson, this example is spectacular.

Just wonderful. The Egyptian sequence is one of the highlights of Foster´s Tarzan run, and this page has it all.

When you look at the influences of Frazetta and other modern artists, it all goes back to Hal Foster "Tarzan". These pages(and the work of J. Allen St. John) were the genesis of the dynamic action philosophy of Frazetta and everyone else working since. Great page!!

Great page!!Well said Johnny...exactly right, Frazetta loved Foster and Williamson called Foster's arzan work the 'bible' go to book... Frazetta prefered Foster's Tarzan to his more staid, staged Prince Valiant...

I do try to consider history when making a purchase, and I try to look at a piece against a backdrop of 100 years, not just the last 40 or so... it transcends nostalgia for me...

As I wrote to you recently, you have one of the best collections on CAF and it is always a joy to visit it, and this classic Sunday by Foster only adds further proof to that opinion.
