DescriptionClassic bronze age Gil Kane cover from the Avengers issue introducing the new Hellcat. This cover is packed with classic BA Avengers stars. More importantly, it is classic BA Gil Kane, with a typical upward camera angle and great layout. But, the reason this cover was a grail for me is the first appearance of the great, happy-go-lucky Hellcat. Maybe not the most fearsome Avengers of them all, but certainly the most fun Defender of all times! Social/Sharing |

Awesome cover from right out of my golden age! This squadron supreme storyline running thru this arc really got me into the Avengers! Love the cover and the Hellcat!

Bringing out the big guns! This is one of Gil’s best Avengers covers, and one of the best Hellcat images ever. Awesome!

Love the way the Avengers are busting off the cover. Avengers Assemble! Gil Kane such an original artist. When you see his work there's no doubt who did it. Congratulations!

That is a terrific/dynamic/classic/(your superlative adjective here) Gil Kane cover composition. He was the face of Marvel Comics during this period with good reason.

Any Avenger cover is cool to watch over but this one, 144 is more sought after than the surrounding issues because of Hellcat - so acquiring this cover, extra cool!

Another fine piece in your wonderful collection. Kane did a perfect job introducing the new Hellcat in his own magnificent way. Hell of a pick!

One of the 70s best Avengers covers! When you see artwork from this era that is so exceptional it brings out an emotional reaction you know that you have something special! This one is truly a gem and I wish it were mine!

What 55 year old boy did not love Hellcat 45 years ago? None I know.

Absolutely spectacular cover, but I also agree the highlight was intro of Hellcat. I think Steve Englehart took the next step of Avengers being the focal point of the Marvel Universe by integrating the western and romance characters with Two Gun and Patsy.

One of my favorite covers from the 1970s. Incredibly dynamic, with the characters practically leaping off the cover.
