DescriptionMick McMahon's run on Sláine is understandably the stuff of legend. Even placed alongside other examples of his ever-evolving style this stood out a mile and I've loved it to bits since it was first published. I asked Mick for a Sláine commission and among the tiny thumbnails he provided (mainly heroic poses and battle scenes) was a curious image of Ukko and Sláine making their way through tangled roots and gnarled trees... The resulting piece is incredible; the atmosphere and silence embedded in the scene leaves me speechless, to be honest. So, Mick McMahon - Art God.Social/Sharing |

WoW! I'm normally not a fan of commissions but this... I'm not sure commission is the correct description , masterpiece is more like it, how often would you want/expect a small image of the main character? but on this occasion BRILLIANT. It look's like a piece that you have to stand well back from to truly take it all in!

Sláine got smaller as the piece was developed (at my urging); I love the fact that he's a relatively minor aspect of this. Very happy I opted for something a little unusual - Mick's composition skills are second to none.

A stunning commission that didn't take the easy, or obvious route, and it is all the better for it. Congratulations!

Wonderful page, ditto above comments. Wonder if Mick regrets that thumbnail, this must have taken him an age.
