Description

Phantom Lady, thanks to the lofty position she holds in the pantheon of "good girl" heroines, was a Bombshell! I did not commission without a great deal of consideration for the artist who would take on the project. In the end, I turned to Michael Dooney, whose previous Bombshells! contributions, Moon Girl and Valkyrie, can be seen elsewhere in this gallery. Not only did Mike tattoo the drawing itself out of the park, but he also eagerly implemented my suggested tribute to Comic Book Hall of Fame artist Matt Baker, whose lush stylings made Phantom Lady a popular -- and notorious -- cover girl. She's a "Heart Baker" in every sense of the phrase.

I like how you've worked your individuality, personal history and interests, comic book history and Americana into your theme, which, funnily enough, reflects one of the traditions of "nose art" itself.

What a wonderful tribute from the terrific pencils to the gorgeous figure and face and then the tribute to Baker...great ideas all around, another winner!
