Description

Commissioned at 2013 Emerald City Comicon and picked up at 2013 Big Wow. I asked Stuart for a Catwoman similar in scale to the other Batman villains he has done for me. This may sound strange but the one thing about Catwoman that fascinated me from an early age was that she had these fingernails that could cut through glass. Stuart does great facial expressions and creates a lot of drama so I asked for a combo of the older and newer versions of Catwoman so that I could get the face showing and the cutting fingernails. My only other direction was that the viewer be between Catwoman cutting the glass.

Stuart came back with so much more than what I asked for. He created this great story, Catwoman stealing some kryptonite! Where the story comes in is who is she stealing this from; Batman or Lex Luthor and who is she stealing it for; herself, Lex, Batman or someone else. All of my other stuff from Stuart is black and white, he added the green for the kryptonite and not only that he uses the light reflecting off of it to highlight where the glass is being cut and elements of her face. He also creates this three dimensional effect by putting the viewer in the safe and wrapping her left hand around one edge of the safe. Catwoman's tongue licking lips definitely adds to the characterization. Super awesome and a truly a very beautiful piece of art.
