DescriptionWhen I first heard of Gilbert Monsanto it was through Kirk Dilbeck's gallery. I noticed a great looking Batman/Joker piece up for auction through his '3 Wishes' program. After doing a bit more searching on Kirk's gallery (which is pretty spectacular) I realized that I was better off getting something I truly wanted - a Joker commission.Seriously, I'm totally new to commissions so when I contacted Kirk I thought I'd have to wait a few months but it was really just a matter of two/three weeks from start to finish! He wanted to know what I wanted from Mr. Monsanto. My mind was blank. I just knew that I loved his pencil/pen work and that I wanted a Joker. However, I do remember telling Kirk that I really didn't like Batman nearly as much as Joker. But I still couldn't come up with something clever... then a scan arrived in my inbox. To say I was floored is an understatement. Not two days before I received this image, I thought 'what about Joker finally getting in the last laugh.. Batman forever out of the way with the Joker sitting on his throne, laughing.' Now, I didn't have a chance to convey this idea to Kirk. Seriously, it was Kismet. Meant to be. The details in this are amazing, there is so much to see.. but my very favourite is the Joker's socks.. and that he's not only wearing Batman's utility belt but his, um, undergarment? lol Maybe it's not the most clever of ideas BUT I love it and I think it's one of the best original Joker pieces I've seen. Joker's Last Laugh - perfect title, perfect piece of art that I really couldn't ask for anything better. Kirk, a million 'Thank You's'.. and Mr. Monsanto, thank you for such a masterful jaw-dropper. :) Social/Sharing |

So I'm the 666th view on this devilishly good piece...it makes me feel a little beastly. Bravo!

Gilbert is an up and coming, really an amazing talent. This is one of my favorite pieces that he did. I love the pin "I Love DC" lol, that's GREAT!
