Description

My personal take on the character Ophelia from Hamlet. I wanted to portray her differently than most artist have done, and instead of painting the moment of her floating lifeless in the water, I wanted to capture the moment of contemplation before she climbs the willow tree. 12"x20" watercolor on watercolor paper mounted to acid free backing board.

Gorgeous piece. I really like the unusual take on the character & the scene. I love how her dress seems to be dissolving into the water.

Thanks Phillip, much appreciated! I wanted to do a different take on the character other than the typical lying in the water as usually depicted.
