DescriptionGobsmacking, iconic McCarthy image of Dredd from the über-classic Riders on the Storm. This page is as amazing now as it was on first viewing 25 years ago and the style Brendan developed on Dredd during this period really seems to have been influential. Finding a second page from this story was more than I could hope for; huge thanks to Darren Keating for parting with it, 25 years after he bought it from Brendan. I'll repeat Darren's comment that this page apparently took Brendan 20 minutes, although Brendan told me that this page took a lot longer than that!Social/Sharing |

Fantastic page David but do not believe the 20 minute bit.No matter how fast you are at drawing this took longer than that.Good story though.

Why not ask brendan himself he has website.

twenty minutes (give or take...) to draw and twenty-five years to find its way home, so congrats on getting a "grail" page, david. .....and what a page too, so no prizes for guessing your facial expression right now! :-)

Hi David nice to see you have the page up mate. I'm glad it has gone to a good home. Enjoy this great piece, for me one of Brendans best ever on Dredd.

That's an astonishingly atmospheric page, David: it's funny, I remember little about the story itself but that particular page must have burned itself indelibly into my brain as one of the iconic Dredd images. Remarkable work.

Straight from the horse's mouth: "That Dredd page took a lot longer than twenty minutes!" There we have it. Some of the pages from this story use a fairly loose style, but 20 minutes did seem a little optimistic for this one! It'd take me longer than that to draw the panel borders, I think.

Got to love Dredd in the rain; if you ever decide to part with this, then I'm y'man! ;-D

I love McCarthy. He draws one of my favourite Dredds. This must have taken a lot longer than 20 minutes! At least 30 :P
