I probably gave too much for this, but P Craig Russell makes my favorite Elric, and Elric is my favorite P Craig Russell, so there you go. I don't think anyone leaps so deftly from classical fine art drawing technique to the reductive lexicon of cartooning, often within the same figure. His line is graceful and liquid, fine but never fussy. Storytelling that straddles the gaze-inducing detail of illustration and the sweeping propulsion of dynamic page layout. One of a kind. Page 1 from the Topps Elric: Stormbringer series from 1997.

It works very well to bring the novel and illustration look with the narration in prose worked into the artistry of the design.

Awesome example--if you were only going to have one PCR Elric page, this would be a great candidate to scratch that itch! All the dragon imagery is so great--that last panel is incredible. Congrats!
