Description

As a character, Supreme’s history is all over the place having been retooled several times with varying degrees of success, but it’s safe to say that the most memorable stories were the ones written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Chris Sprouse & Al Gordon.

One of the things I enjoyed most about Moore’s Supreme was the way he could unabashedly embrace the fun of the Weisinger era Superman comics that he enjoyed as a youth while adding his own unique spin to appeal to a new generation. Sprouse pulled out all stops on this issue showing off his flare for slick superheroics meshed with cartoony character design that we’d later see in Tom Strong.

Here’s Supreme getting walloped by Omniman, a comic character created by Supreme’s alter ego Ethan Crane in “19th Dimensional Nervous Breakdown!”, arguably the best story in the series.

I'd say that Moore's run is the most memorable as a whole but indeed, young Sprouse contribution was the best he'd been drawn

Sleek artwork! Sprouse and Gordon made it look retro with the simplicity of line while still hitting all the marks of modern detail and action composition.
