Description

Sword and sorcery tale featuring NIGHTMASTER from the 1969 story "Sing a Song of Sorcery!" Very early DC assignment for Wrightson. Michael Kaluta and Jeff Jones did some inking assist on the two issues of Showcase/Nightmaster that Bernie drew.

I love oddball Silver Age DC pages. This is a really nice one.

(PS Back when I somehow talked Kaluta into doing my Nightmaster sketch at an 80s mini-con, I also asked him if he could remember any of the Nightmaster pages he worked on. If I recall correctly, he laughed out loud before he politely told me no.)

Nightmaster is the coolest of the cool! That period of Wrightson, barely out of fandom but already showing genius, is like springtime in my heart...
