This starts with Neals pencils, my inks, and then Neal doing a pretty thorough re-do in final printed comic.

Terrific piece of knowledge here !!!!! Personnally it seems evident the redo has something to do with Bruce's right arm which clearly didn't look good more than your inks which are rather impressive !!!!! So I'll have the third panel any day !!!!!

It's fascinating to get this peek. As for a preference, I kind of fall in the middle. I like the fullness of Bruce's face, the intensity of his eyes and, as Romain pointed out, the right arm (but also the shirt cuff) as Neal modified them, but, in general, I prefer your smoother inks. The scratchier, looser inks on the face and shirt, for whatever reason, just don't look right to me whereas your smoother inks just seem natural .

For me, Scott , the way you inked the head was Giordanoish. Which is a good thing. Neal's version, ironically, seems a bit off. Especially the eyes.

I really prefer your inks to Neal's, and the definition that you give to the figures.

Scott, the second panel is the Neal Adams I grew up with. Smooth, detailed lines that drew me in and made Neal one of my favorite all-time artists. The last panel I can't even relate to--it's not the Neal I nostalgically remember.

Really neat to see the before, after and final product. Your inks always impresses Scott!!!!

In addition to the inking change, notice that Neal changed the angle of the head to center it over the torso better. In his original drawing, the head was dislocated. I think that probably bothered Neal more than your inking, once he realized it, and is the main reason he re-did the head.

Scott, that is amazing. Your inking is much, much cleaner. I see the difference in the head, but YOU FOLLOWED NEAL'S PENCILS. So any issue with its location is his, not yours. I understand if he wanted to accentuate the rolled-up sleeve more, but why redo it with all the scratchy lines? And why butcher the face? His looks more like the rushed Continuity comics art from a decade ago, while yours looks like classic (re: award-winning) Adams from the heyday. Thanks again for sharing these for us artists!

I second Mr. McLeod's observation and noticed also noticed the same thing on the redone Deadman torso and head on page 17. Scott faithfully inked what was there in pencil, but Neal decided he wanted something different. In the case of the Deadman arm and torso, I like Neal's second pass at the anatomy better, but Scott did a brilliant job of inking what he was given.
