DescriptionPublished 1997.Superboy vs. Mo-O. An immortal vampiric being, Mo-O feeds on the life forces of others to stay alive. (apparently named after Mo'O a mythological Hawaiian lizard spirit) Mo-O finds herself unable to absorb Superboy's alien life force and crumbles to dust once her life force is expended. Oh, statted
Corner, right side, down
The cover's ink Ray Kryssing
And you can't calm down
The Sal Buscema's the highlight
Love darts in your eyes
The cover you take it
'Til you realize
Sal's magic in your eyes
Issue forty two
Got a hold on you
Got a hold on you tonight
I got a Mo-O too
She's a Mo-Fo too
(She's a Mo-Fo too)
Yeah, oh, yeah, oh
(Mo-O, Sal's magic)
Uh oh, when I'm with you
(Mo-O, Sal's magic)
Uh oh, Sal's magic
Just a little bit of
Kon-El pulls me through
Issue forty two

I wonder if Jordan or Askani'Son have ever heard of Mo'O, the mythological Hawaiian lizard spirit. Maybe one of them will see this and chime in. Giving credit where it's due, although he never seemd to be able to handle Grummett's pencils particularly well, his inks were far better suited to Sal Buscema's pencils, as this example shows. I would've liked to have seen what he could've done over Sal's work at Marvel.

Oh, I believe that she's based on an actual mythological Hawaiian lizard spirit. I'm just wondering if it's something really obscure that even most native Hawaiians don't know about or if something that's commonly known by people born and raised there.

A great, bold design. A really effective cover image - congrats!
