Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why?
Well, taking my grail piece out of the equation, it would be probably be the Ed Benes Supergirl 79 cover. After suffering through the interregnum where Kara Zor-El was absent from the DC Universe, I was extremely thrilled by the 'Many Happy Returns' story line by Peter David as he attempted to bring her back.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I recently retired and currently divide my time between art collecting, attending conventions, cataloging comics for the GCD (comics.org) and as a volunteer doing free tax preparation for low income families.
How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?
I saw my first comic art in 1977 when I attended Creation Convention in New York. Barry Smith was there with his Conan original art. There was also a comic shop in midtown that displayed comic art. I was just a poor college student at the time but I knew I wanted to one day own comic art. I bought my first piece from Supersnipe Comic Book Emporium in 1979.
How do you display/store your collection at home?
I have my comic art in portfolios and a set of flat file drawers. I also have paintings framed and hung on the walls.
What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?
Except for a few artists that I consider friends, I have stopped getting commissions. I am still basking in the landing my grail, so I haven't reset my goals yet.
