Description

Impressive "King Size" cover (50 x 36 cm) masterfully painted by Rafael López Espí for the Spanish edition of SUPER HÉROES (GHOST RIDER) VOL.2 N°1, published by Vértice in August 1974. It is titled " Those who serve Satan" and the content in USA corresponds to Marvel Spotlight Vol.1 #7, Marvel Spotlight Vol.1 #8 and The Avengers Vol.1 #21. The coloring and realism is spectacular for one of the most beautiful covers the author did for the publisher. This cover, in my opinion, has the same technique and degree of quality that the author did for famous posters in 1972. What makes it really special is that Lopez Espi painted very few covers in this size and with this quality, mainly issues #1 (vol. 2). As additional images, a comparison between the "King Size" with respect to the size of the rest of the normal covers (25x35 cm). In addition, this is the cover of one of the most difficult and sought-after No. 1 comics by collectors of Vertice editions.

Impactante portada "King Size" (50 x 36 cm) magistralmente pintada por Rafael López Espí para la edición española de SUPER HÉROES (GHOST RIDER) VOL.2 N°1, publicada por Vértice en agosto de 1974. Se titula "Los que sirven a Satán" y el contenido en USA corresponde a Marvel Spotlight Vol.1 #7, Marvel Spotlight Vol.1 #8 y Los Vengadores Vol.1 #21. El coloreado y el realismo es espectacular para una de las portadas más bonitas que hizo el autor para la editorial. Esta portada tiene la misma técnica y grado de calidad que el autor hizo para famosos posters en 1972. Lo que la hace realmente especial es que López Espi pintó muy pocas portadas en este tamaño y con esta calidad, principalmente los números #1 (vol. 2). Como imágenes adicionales, una comparación entre el "King Size" con respecto al tamaño del resto de las portadas normales (25x35 cm). Además, esta es la portada de uno de los números #1 más difíciles y buscados de las ediciones Vértice.

Creo que nadie, ni los propios artistas de Marvel, dibujó al Hombre de Hierro y al Motorista Fantasma tan extraordinariamente como López Espí, y esta portada es una prueba más. Enhorabuena.

The direction of the Ghost Rider action is like a streak of lightning and fire going across the cover with those bright colors.

Some great color work throughout, with energy AND depth! I do like the changeup of the red/orange look for GR here - something you don't see often so dig that novelty! Congrats!
