Description

For years there has been a common misconception that John Constantine - Hellblazer made his 1st appearance as a cameo in a single panel in issue #25 of The Saga of the Swamp Thing. This is not true. In that single panel, Bissette and Totleben simply felt like drawing someone who looks like 'Sting' in the background. End of story.

After they did this, they approached Alan Moore about creating a character that resembled Sting. In issue #37 Alan Moore created that character - John Constantine - The Hellblazer.

This double page spread IS Constantine's very 1st appearance ever. He does not appear on the cover or 1st page.

John Constantine is by far and away The Most Important Character Alan Moore Has Ever Created. Bar None. Virtually every other character Moore has created exists within the confines of a mini-series. Those that do not, pale in comparison to the breadth of importance to comics as a whole that The Hellblazer has.

I have owned this double page spread since buying it about 10 years ago from the original owner, who in turn bought it from Veitch directly, in the 80's.

I do not have a price in mind. Please do not ask for one. You know what the art is worth to you. Feel free to make that your offer. I have sold several other high-end pieces to the right offers over the last year. I am only interested in FRAZETTA originals in trade. I will offer more pieces I have towards the 'right' FRAZETTA(s).
