Description

The page is the right hand side of the spread of the toppeling of the Statue of Liberty. I was puzzled the pages weren't sold. I bought them from Art of Comics, a very recommended gallery. Upon reflection I think these pages were avoided by american collectors. It's understandable.

Interesting observation about the reasons this may have been passed on by some American collectors. And I agree. It's certainly a chilling and startling page from our collective perspective.

Hi Mark, Thanks for your comment. You're the only one to remark on this. I find the art facinating, because of the iconic image of the Statue of Liberty and the terrifying imaginary scenario...as well as the great artwork. I did find it curious that the art hadn't been picked up...maybe it's not what one would have hanging on the wall if you were american...but, hey, it's just art and a great story. But maybe I wouldn't go for a piece of art showing terrorists destroying the Little Mermaid : ) On another note...I checked out your galley and the Gulacy Sabre page you have is amazing. I remember being blown away the first time I read the story. I missed Steranko and this page was welcome return to that kind of art. I've never understood why Marvel never teamed Gulacy up with a great writer and produced a SHEILD book. regards Mark
