Thanks, Tommy. Kirby using the last of his energy before quitting Marvel. Such a pity Marvel didn't treat him better... regards Mark
Hi pierreux G, Thanks for your comments. Yeah…this is a lovely piece. A complete piece of art even though it is on Teddy's xerox. I checked out your gallery and we like a lot of the same artists. McKean, Fregredo, Guy Davis (great artist!), Muth, Kyle Baker (only digital now, damn!), Mark Hempel (Breathtaker is a fantastic book) and of course Teddy and Bjarne. I met Bjarne when I was an art director at Ogilvy and Mather and commissioned him to do some work…as I did with many other illustrators. I'm always trying to get more illustrations into ad campaigns. Thanks for opening my eyes to John Watkiss…I didn't know his work until I saw your gallery…I will certainly be watching him. regards Mark
Thanks...and yes you do have the preceding page. Those two pages are like a pause between all the action... Checked your gallery out...great collection of Mignola...and other stuff. regards Mark
Thanks, Jean André That's high praise coming from a man with your amazing collection. I'm also a huge fan of Kubert's Green Berets and you collection of Kubert art is just far out. regards Mark
Thanks M. T. You are the first to comment on these prelims. I like them a lot. They have a certain charm and it's interesting to see a work in progress...although from the sketches one can see that Eisner already had planned the pages...theres not much variation from thumbnail to finished page. I enjoyed looking in on your gallery...you have some pretty fantastic pieces there. Love Seth's work...so brilliantly drawn. regards Mark
Thanks, Michael. Actually, I saw your great page today and wanted to see how many examples of Weapon X were out there...and I realised that I hadn't loaded my page up in my gallery. It's such a beautiful book, Weapon X, a real classic. It was a real treat seeing your page and reading the info. regards Mark
Hi Mark, Thanks for your comment. You're the only one to remark on this. I find the art facinating, because of the iconic image of the Statue of Liberty and the terrifying imaginary scenario...as well as the great artwork. I did find it curious that the art hadn't been picked up...maybe it's not what one would have hanging on the wall if you were american...but, hey, it's just art and a great story. But maybe I wouldn't go for a piece of art showing terrorists destroying the Little Mermaid : ) On another note...I checked out your galley and the Gulacy Sabre page you have is amazing. I remember being blown away the first time I read the story. I missed Steranko and this page was welcome return to that kind of art. I've never understood why Marvel never teamed Gulacy up with a great writer and produced a SHEILD book. regards Mark
Amazing strip. So much in one panel and then a sexy, cool woman. Just beautifull. Congrats.
Oh...I love Yellow Submarine. It's a great drawing you've made and the colours are as lovely as in the film. I saw Yellow Submarine when I was a kid and drew the Beatles, the Submarine and the Blue Meanies on my room wall...not as good as your drawing...but it was a fun room to grow up in. best wishes and keep drawing mark copenhagen, denmark
