DescriptionI'm really pleased to add this piece to my collection. I grew up in the Ernie Chan / Carmine Infantino age of the Flash and always loved the later. Murphy Anderson's and Klaus Janson's inks were top notch. This issue was inked by M. Hands (Many Hands). The inkers were Klaus Janson, Terry Austin, Bob McLeod, Tom Palmer, Bob Wiacek, Joe Rubenstein, and Walt Simonson. All of my research has been inconclusive as to which of these artists may have inked this splash page. However, it feels to me like a Simonson ink. Regardless, I love this page because it embodies that late 70's mainstream sci-fi feel. I also love the fact that it is introduced by Stan Lee and has that classic Marvel dialog feel to it.Social/Sharing |

Always great to have a title splash with "Stan Lee presents". In my humble opinion, the page looks to have been inked by Janson. Just a guess though.

It looks to be pretty clearly Walt. If it was Klaus the bolder strokes in the metal would be dryer, and the machinery would be far less clearly defined.

Nice page from one of my favorite series to read all those years ago. I don't see any Simonson inks in this page as Simonson's trademarked fine lines are rather absent to my eye. My vote would be for Wiacek inks. But there is one way to find out. You can e-mail each of the inkers and find out a conclusive answer to your mystery. Good luck!

Good luck!Looking at comics.org, Simonson is listed as inking pg. 16. However, pages 1-3 are uncredited. The mystery continues. Thanks for the idea about contacting the inkers direct. I'll add an update if I find out anything further.

Fantastic Splash! All these years I was crediting Klaus Janson with the inks on this page. This really is a mystery that needs to be solved. I will dig deep on this!
