Description

Growing up in the seventies, I spent a lot of time in newsstands with my Dad. Dad would always be over at the car section while I would thumb through piles of horror books. Although I didn't know any of the masters at the time, I remember those wonderful Warren covers making a huge impact on me as a child. Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella and the mother of them all - Famous Monsters of Filmland. Later I would come to appreciate those wonderful names of horror such as Frazetta, Wrightson, Jones and the wonderful Sanjulian.

Sanjulian started with Warren in 1970 working on covers for numerous titles and created what would become the "definitive" depiction of Uncle Creepy and Cousin Eerie! Known as an Artist's Artist, Sanjulian is one of the few true living masters!

My wonderful wife recently surprised me with this classic hand-painted rendition of legendary actor, Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's Monster. Sanjulian's uncanny ability to capture the likeness of this classic character is just plain "eerie" ;) Also note the cool bats and old-school celluloid! Brings back memories of assembling those old horror Aurora kits ~ man, I can still smell those funky paint fumes. Good times!

I am so honored to finally own an original oil from this extraordinary artist!
