DescriptionAs you can see, I’ve started working on the curtains and the bed post. I was going to add elaborate design on the curtains, but decided against it.The curtain patterns would compete with the wallpaper patterns on the left side. Also by keeping the curtains rather dark and simple, they will act as a framing device and let the eyes focus on the lady’s dress and figure. Social/Sharing |

The lines on that dress are very Sienkiewicz-y. Beautiful piece so far!

Ironically, like others, I've been watching this creation of yours come alive just like the Dr creating Frankenstein and it's just Amazingly Cool! I hear the comments about who it looks like and the bottom line (no pun intended) is this piece is all yours and it's a real work of art! Really looking forward to seeing this finished but lot's of fun seeing it done in stages. Not sure who's gonna end up with the art, but it looks like a for sure Best of 2011 piece.

I dunno. The drapery folds look so angular and sharp-edged they lose the character of cloth, seeming more like elaborately carved wood. Is the bedpost, which we know to be wood--right?--supposed to offer the contrast which helps the drapery feel like cloth? I'm trying to see it that way. I'm gona get out my Wrightson illo'ed Frankenstein and my Franklin Booth 100 Drawings and see what they did in similar circumstances. I also miss seeing some indication of the woman's body under the drapery. It'd give the area greater spacial clarity. I'm still in awe of your draughtsmanship and compositional sense. Great Gothic mood over all.

My wife teaches Frankenstein in her Sr. English class. Do you have a print of this that people can buy?

Beautiful piece Mr. Cho, just stunning. If you ever do anything with Sherlock Holmes I'd love to know.
