DescriptionNot really a recreation but a reinterpretation of the cover. I won some of Bo Hampton's auctions on eBay and asked if he did commissions which he said he did. I chose this cover for him to do his version of it and I think he did a great job. I rarely ever get color commissions but I'm glad I splurged on this one. A very nice artist to work with and I'm very happy to have gotten such a great commission. I included some prelims and the original cover. And, in case you didn't know, I love the golden age Hawkman's yellow mask.Update: Bo published it in his artbook, Bo Hampton's Fantastic Adventure on page 177. Social/Sharing |

Really cool to see Hampton's modern battle action interpretation of that particular cover since it had techniques which aren't used too often. The red makes Hawkman's foes all the more sinister!

I love Hampton's watercolors going back to his Viking Prince comic and I think he made this work. The original was probably done in two pieces with Hawkman on one board and the phantoms on an overlay to allow the different color separations. Definitely not something seen a lot back in the day.
