Description

The King at the Cross-roads by Darrell K Sweet.

Approx 28x28, Acrylic on Upson board. Used for the cover of Ballantine's 3rd Edition / 1981-1984 paperback version of The Two Towers, the outside of the box for the Hobbit/LoTR set, as well as the month of October in the 1982 Ballantine Tolkien Calendar. A blast from the past! It'll get a new frame wink emoticon

This, to me, may be the most quintessentially "Tolkien" of all your paintings. Also, the colors are lovely.
