DescriptionYet another beautiful work by the Venetian master I'm proud to add to my collection! It's the end page of a long adventure story titled "Lord Tigre" (Lord Tiger), written and drawn by Frollo in the mid '80s, but published only 10 years later in a limited edition (800 copies) large format book by ANAFI (the Italian national association of comics and illustration friends). It is told that the story was conceived as an ironic tribute to old pirate movies, especially "The Crimson Pirate" (1952) and in my opinion it's one of Frollo's best comic works ever. (pen, ink and zipatone on artboard, roughly 10"x 14" - signed) Click HERE to see all Frollo's art in my Gallery (nudity warning) Social/Sharing |

Wonderful. I like the elegance in the lines of that true master.

Not familiar with the artist, but can appreciate that delicate linework. Very nice!

The open sea beckons! They didn't have to deal with hangings and disposal of the bodies out in the high seas.

Beautiful artwork. This would be at home on the Sunday comics pages of the 1930s and 40s alongside the adventure strip masters of the day.

I love Frollo's art. The inking is so decadent and free-flowing.

You are right to be proud of it is a magnificent and very complex board. Frollo had an incredibly sensitive, sinuous and fluid stroke, in constant and strict balance. It is also rare to find pirate stories drawn by him.
