Description

Pulse-pounding climatic scene as the Marvel Family have just defeated satan - who has dissipated as a "clearing cloud of fire and brimstone" - with Captain Marvel soaring down to another cave in hell to knock out cold King Kull to finally win the day as good triumphs over evil. Stunning original artwork page 16 for Shazam #35 by the late great Don Newton (pencils) and Kurt Schaffenberger (inks). This was the final issue of this title that featured the brilliant story, "Backward, Turn Backward, O Time in Your Flight" by E. Nelson Bridwell as the Marvel Family must descend into the lower stygian realms of hell itself to confront and defeat King Kull and the devil. WOW, what an issue!

Remember fondly reading it as a boy and loving it! This is what comic books are all about - Great story telling and Great Artwork!

"Not this time, Kull!" - BROCK!, as a mega right hook knocks him out and the 'struck' face of King Kull is just plain classic. I loved the Shazam book. It was wonderful, and this page is a terrific example of what made it great.
