DescriptionSpectacular title splash original artwork from "Weird" Adventure Comics #437 (DC, 1975) for the terrifying tale, "The Human Bombs and...the Spectre." Artwork is by Ernie Chua (Chan - pencils), with fantastic finishes by the legendary, Jim Aparo (inks). This spooky scene showcases the awesome Spectre in his full ghostly glory, playing with TWO-MILLION VOLTS of electricity as if they were but a ball of string for a cute kitten. This is one of the better stories of this classic run that features everything one could ask for from a Spectre story: a vile villain bent on a murderous campaign that endangers innocent bystanders, as well as Jim Corrigan's beloved, Gwendolyn Sterling. Tale also includes two ingenious death traps and the ironic, but just turning of the tide, as the Spectre disposes the villain via his own evil invention - a Michael Fleisher trademark. This story is likewise graced with one of the all-time classic lines of this classic series: "There are heroes who fight crime with magic rings (Green Lantern), or with the powers they have brought with them from distant planets (Superman). But all these pale into insignificance beside the astral awesomeness of...the Spectre..." Has there ever been a more apropos description of the Spectre offered anywhere and/ or at anytime? I think not. Social/Sharing |
