Description

Yet another captivating image by this brilliant painter and illustrator (Milan, 1929-2000), who undoubtedly was one of the most famous and productive cover artists in Italy between the '50s and the '90s.
This painting was made in 1981 as the cover of a pulp novel titled "Libidine Infernale" (Hellish Lust), issue #7 from the short-lived series "I Gialli della Luce Rossa" (literally The Yellow Books of the Red Light), published by Edifumetto.
The peculiarity of these books covers was that the painted image was enclosed in the shape of a light bulb with a red outline and, as for the rest, the books were completely yellow, like the classic detective and crime novels published in Italy since 1929 by Mondadori (for which Jacono himself painted hundreds of covers, so he wasn't used to sign his works for other editors, especially if the subject matter was quite... unseemly).
