DescriptionI’m a big fan of Hep’s. Got a cover, some panel pages, and a black and white commission, and when there was a chance to see what he could do on a color commish? No hesitation!Deathlok’s got such a killer design. Love the mix of organic and tech, the different colors throughout…a great commission choice. Check this piece out. Tell me I’m wrong :) Loving Hep’s cartoony take, with the exaggerated musculature, and even the large feet :) Colors are really a sight in person. A mix of pen, marker, and paints. The military cyborg (Michael Collins specifically will always be my ‘Lok) just finished up doing what he does. And I have a feeling whoever he’s pointing at, probably standing there with hands raised high. Thanks, Scott, and rep Cadence Comic Art, and all for looking! Got more Hep comin’ so stay tuned! A great visual character that nobody draws enough (or requests enough).

I love Deathlok's costume design! Shout out to the late Rich Buckler! I also prefer my art realistic as you know, especially for realistic looking characters like Deathlok, but once again you've shown me that there are certain carttonier styled artists who can still make a character like this one appeal to me. Very nice, congrats, man!

Deathlok always makes me think of this odd moment, where my band instructor in middle school saw me reading comics on my break. And I was reading Deathlok #6 I think, and he looked at it and said, "Death okay?!?!??!" and walked away.

Lol,I can just picture him stepping out with the "oookay?!?!" :) And if it was Deathlok #6 from the Wright/Cowan run, our bud M L's got the cover OA posted right here on CAF! Thanks, Derek, and all, for the comments!

"And I have a feeling whoever he’s pointing at, probably standing there with hands raised high." ... if he still has hands! Great piece.

Deadly looking Deathlok, true killer instinct fully programmed and in play for this commission, congrats!

Love Hep! He did a great job on a commission idea I gave him at Heroes a few years ago and was great to talk with - a true fan of the medium. Congrats - this is oozing Hep's style! Thanks for sharing!

It's got a "you're the last one. Bye." kinda feel. Very cool Deathlok! The hazy, indistinct watercolor background really makes that detailed Deathlok pop. And it has to be gory, nice call. Great commission. Congrats!

"Bye", then viewer perspective turns completely to red. Yup, I can see it. And I agree on the watercolor bg - adds a looser organic feel overall, but the contrast with the exactness on 'Lok makes him stand out that much more! Thanks!

Hepburn is not afraid to make the feet big and the whole effect big. It looks ike he eviscerated the rest and aiming to make this final kill.

You like your badasses, don't you?
I find that the color truly makes a difference here (otherwise it's just a character standing in a somehow statick way). It really pops, congrats!

It's interesting, I was thinking similarly. Kind of a straight up pose, and that threw me a little, as I'm using to seeing more dynamic poses and overall movement on Scott's stuff. BUT, as you note, I do think he wanted to show out on the colors, as I don't think he's done too many of these. As I write this, this is the only color commission by Scott here on CAF. So yeah, a straight up pose, but doesn't make it less impactful I think. He's just got done with the dirty work. Or, as J H and Marcus Wai note, ALMOST done :) Thanks for the add, man!

GREAT commission, K! The design of Deathlok (as Eric and Ruben pointed out) is so incredibly strong and unique that he/it really makes for a compelling piece when an artist draws them - especially when that artist tees up on it, like Scott did here! Another beautiful Hep piece, pal! Great color score - congrats!

Great commission by Hepburn. This is gonna sound weird but I think my favorite part is the warm tone he added to the steel components. Sick use of color and media!

Agreed! Hepburn is a dynamic artist and his color commission looks great. At first, thought he was holding a baby yoda. Haha. A gun is much cooler, but more powerful Baby Yoda might be!

I think I'm making out the baby Yoda? Not easy for me to see, but is the gun barrel one of the ears? In any case, I'd imagine 'Lok could get some legit mileage in his work out of a gun or a baby Yoda! Glad you like, Johnny - thanks!
