Description

On the second day of the 2011 Pittsburgh Comic-Con, I hurried to be near the front of Phil Jimenez's line once again. My goal: To get a companion piece featuring Magik to compliment the Shadowcat he'd done for me the day before. As Mr. Jimenez constructed the piece, we chatted about how seminal and important Bill Sienkiewicz's run on the New Mutants was and how it helped shape comics into the medium we all enjoy now. The more he talked about it, I noted him begin to add darker and darker details to the piece, finally adding the shadow demon in the background as he revealed that Illyana had been his favorite of the book's cast of characters, just as she was mine. A great piece by a great artist...with great taste! Thanks, Mr. Jimenez!!! :D
