DescriptionRichie Rich and Casper #27 cover dated March 1978 was first on-sale in Dec 1978.My memories of seeing the book for the first time go back to Christmas Eve morning 1978. On the start of a trip to my grandparents my Mom stopped on the Main Street of our hometown to go into the bank telling me to stay in the car with my sister. Different times back then. It was my very first week as comic book reader and across the street from our car was a coffee shop/newsstand. Grabbed my sister and said we're taking a walk. In the coffee shop I picked out a book and my little sister pointed and was like "Casper, Casper" so I grabbed the Richie Rich and Casper #27 for her. Paid for both books and we went back to the car. When my Mom returned to the vehicle, my sister was reading the comic (looking at the pictures). My Mom said "where did you get that?" My sister said "he got it for me" Mom got upset saying "I told you not to leave the car!" Then was like...wait you got that for her, "my %#!@ brother, never would have got anything for me". She then went on "all the money you had was 3 quarters and you spent most if it on her?" I said yes. Mom then said in effect I know I'll never have to worry about your sister getting by. Mom has been gone for quite a while now, but to this day I still take care of my little sister. Recently I acquired 2 handful of pages from Richie Rich and Casper #27 - my sisters first comic book, all are Grail's to me. See the additional images for the pages I recall most from Christmas Eve 1978! P.S. These pages do not appear to be by Warren Kremer, please comment if you have Artist information - Thanks. Nice story! So are you giving the pages to your sister now? ;)

I relayed the story to her right after aquiring the pages. Sadly she was too young back then and has zero memory of the day.
Was going to have the page w/Wendy The Good Witch & Casper framed for her, but she had no interest in it hanging in her home.
Still none of that changes the memories of that day for me.
Rich for reference, it was the Coffee Shop/Newsstand across from what was then "Tom's Sunoco". I can still recall the smell of Coffee intermingled with Bacon and mixed with Newsprint - ain't nothing like it :)

That's cool! The sentimental value is greater than the value of the art. I'd be tempted to write this story on the back of one of these pages.

Love the story! That's awesome. Your the best big brother ever ... both then and now!
The pages that have special meaning just for us are among the most precious out there. Congrats on finding these and adding to your collection.
