John Romita pencils with Jim Mooney inks, from the CLASSIC 1968 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN story titled: "THE SPEEDSTER AND THE SPIDER!" EVERYTHING IS ART HERE...EVEN THE TITLE! Spider-Man Takes Off His Mask & Top As He Thinks About JJJ's Collapse Last Issue! SPIDEY also has the magical "TABLET" that the kingpin stole from ASM 67-69 and which the evil SILVERMANE will steal throughout ASM 73-75 where he dies from THE TABLET! I personally feel that Jim Mooney was the BEST inker EVER on JOHN ROMITA (next to Romita inking himself) Mooney's inks are so detailed that the only inker I feel who inked better in the 1960s was Joe Sinnott!

The tormented Peter Parker reflects on the failures of the day and does not see himself a hero. It is simply presented with a flourish of fine inking.

Such a simple scene, and yet so expertly executed while conveying everything that typifies that title and the story of poor Peter Parker. It's a great page to sum up that book. Mooney's inks are just fabulous on Romita. Gorgeous splash.
