DescriptionSince 2007 (when I first began seriously collecting) one of my main pages that I ever wanted was a Ditko Machine Man page from the ending of the original Kirby series. Machine Man has always been a favorite character of mine and Steve Ditko, well, what can I say that you don't already know.? When I first started digging around for a page and I never dreamed how impossibly hard it would be to find one, let alone a good one, you all of course know the difference. The more I looked the more I noticed that such a page was extremely rare. I emailed dealers, CAF sellers, asked friends and went as far as to send a letter to Mr. Ditko himself, which you can see his reply in my gallery now. Well, seven years later one pops up on the internet to only be disappear. It took some emails, some phone calls, a bit of wheeling and dealing and (I'm not going to lie) a good amount of money and now, at long last I finally have my grail. I don't use that term loosely and I know that it gets batted around more often than it should but I will say it again, "grail".Have you ever gotten a page and felt like won something? This is the page that makes me feel like a winner. Thanks to all the friends I made in the hobby, the dealers, Sparkle City, CAF., the boards (this one and the other one), and the people I irritated. All of these people are the building blocks I needed to own this page. Social/Sharing |

It's a great page. The action and layouts remind me of his Spider-man work.

This is a great page -- I gave up long ago on trying to find a good Machine Man page by Ditko (yours is inked by Ditko too, isn't it?). This one is high energy, fun, crazy, and all the images as a whole have a terrific "flow," if you know what I mean. And while the top tiers are like Spidey the last tier is sorta Dr Strange like. I love the inking in the last panel in particular. Well done. You can stop collecting now.

Awesome Ditko pen & inks! Glad to see someone ended up with that "BWS" Machine Man auction, I'm sure it was quite an adventure to land this one!

I didn't know of your quest specifically, but did know you are a Machine Man fan...so can appreciate what this must mean to you! Instantly recognizable as Ditko. Congrats!

Supremely Ditko-esque. All the fun of an ASM or a Doctor Strange at a fraction of the cost, I'll bet. Which is what I would call a smart pick up, congrats!

Great action page accented by beautiful art. I'm obviously not the only one moved by your joy in landing the grail. I believe that a round of applause is on order ****

Much respect for persevering to land this beauty! I remember as a kid thinking what a stone gas it was that Ditko was following Kirby on this book, and this page delivers on the promise of Ditko awesomeness in spades. It's true that every time a comic art collector acquires a long sought grail, you hear a bell, and an angel gets his wings!

I also think you are a winner for acquiring this page. It is one of the better Ditko pages from this era that I've seen.

Chuck Norris and Machine Man need to team-up. Drawn by Ditko, of course.

It's a great page. I think Machine Man could have been a wonderful Silver Age hit for Marvel had Ditko drew him in that era. This page looks like it came right out of 1963. Bravo.

It sounds like a long and expensive journey, but I bet it was worth it in the end (though the wallet will disagree). Congrats on finding (and acquiring) your grail!

One thing I never really worried about was toxic masculinity let alone masculinity.
