DescriptionLots of good stuff going on with this one!First off, it is by John Romita Jr! My first and only JR JR piece and this one is great. A nice piece done by John during his run on the Hulk where he sported the close cut look. Not my all time favorite look for Hulk’s locks but it was a great story with great art. Very fitting to have a period piece from this run. The Rubinstein inks really compliment John’s pencils. I love the grin on Hulk’s face and the fist up close and personal! This was also done during the time that John was doing his fundraiser to raise money for his niece who had recently been diagnosed with cancer. As part of this effort, John earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for consecutive hours sketching. I can’t recall how long he sketched for – feel free to post if you have more on this story. Finally, this was a very generous gift from my friend Jose. While at NYCC in 2010, Jose told me that he had a piece he wanted to give me due to my being the biggest Hulk fan he knows. At the time I was very happy to be gifted any Hulk artwork but did not know what the piece was. You can imagine my surprise to find out the piece and it’s back-story. I had hoped to see Jose again at NYCC again this year but was unable to make it so it was sent to me with another package containing a haul from the con. Surprised once again when I opened the box, I found an accompanying gifted Planet Hulk sketch as well > http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=840657&GSub=115616 Thanks Jose! I'm always pleased to ink JRJR,but I have to tell you all those looong interweaving lines sure pushed my brush control to it's limit.
