DescriptionI thought I’d close the year out featuring pieces in my gallery, as well as posting new pieces, featuring the core Avengers team. Today…Iron Man!I REALLY dig this cover, and have since I saw the first published image. So, it was a target I fortunately hit in September’s ComicLink auction. Yildiray Cinar just went to town on this from a design standpoint. I really dig his rendition of the Endo-Sym armor here, highlighting the morph-y quality of the armor. The plates almost seem like they’re moving, and that’s helped by the subtle decision to not have an outer closing line on every part of the figure. For example, you can see at the upper left forearm right below the elbow, that it’s not technically connected. A glowing blue light is put in those spots in coloring (additional image included). Very nice. Overall, the lines are so clean, that the minimal rendering throughout, IMO, is a plus. Definitely the right choice not to overdo it. Lastly, the machinery up top is really what sold me. Again, a morphing kind of look to it, with almost an anime vibe. I don’t know what this mech is for technically or functionally but hey, it looks cool, right?! Isn’t that what we get this stuff for?! Cinar did the interiors for the series, and it looked great, but I think this cover is the featured image. Mike Choi did the standard covers but I’m glad the interior artist got to do one, and ever gladder I got it! ;) As always, thanks for looking, and stay tuned for more Avengers posts through the rest of 2019! I love the look and feel (and fluidity) of this cover. I agree, very crisp and clean. Iron Man looks great. And yeah, who cares what all that machinery is for --- it just looks cool. Keep the Avengers pieces comin'!

Such an interesting, linear approach he used on this one. It feels like it has some sort of European/Asian sensibilities to it, as opposed to the traditional American superhero comics approach. I definitely see why you were drawn to it!

Good observation on the European/Asian sensibilities - can definitely see that and the non-traditional vibe was definitely what drew me to it! Thanks for the comment, Ruben, and all, as always - much appreciated!

Thanks, Al! I totally agree, and your son's got a pretty nice splash from the series himself - MK II armor, baby! :)

So I actually bid against you on this!! But not too hard :-)! And happy it found the perfect home. I agree with you, the machinery is really what also drove my interest! This is such a particular and unique cover…well done!!

I can’t say I’m not happy you stopped bidding :) Based on your comments it’s pretty clear we shared the same reasons for interest! Thanks for the add, Vale - much appreciated!

Such a beautiful cover... Yildiray Cinar is so underrated in my opinion. Surprised he hasn't gotten more high profile work.

Awesome cover K! Has a very modern feel to it with very clean lines and enough detail to make the piece pop.

There's an abstract quality to the fluid lines. It flows in rhythm, creating a sense of movement in the composition. Beautiful cover!
