DescriptionOne of the best covers in the original What if series IMHO and while Bill Sienkiewicz didn't draw the interiors, it was still a great issue with Ron Wilson handling the pencil duties in amazing fashion! I have always had a great appreciation for this issue and it took a very long time to track down a page couple years ago. So adding another page is great to pair with the first. No Hulk on the page but it does contain some wonderful General Ross and his trademark Hulk-hating ways. It is a fun issue, I recommend giving it a read if you haven't already.Additional images for the cover and printed page. Social/Sharing |

Wow that is a classic cover. And that's a really nice page you picked up, congrats! Though the Hulk going 'berserk' seems a little on the nose. It's kind of what he does, right? It's like having an issue of "What If Spider-Man Got All Web-Spinny?" Haha! I get it though. "Berserk" has a different connotation than your basic "Rage" and is more Wolverine territory. Anyway, great pick-up!!

Haha - good point Paul. Hulk's smash mode has taken on a few descriptions over the years (World Breaker is my latest favorite). I think Berserk works better than "What if the Hulk Lost control more than his usual smashing episides" ... and definitely fits with Bill's cover art better. Thanks!

Immediatlely like the setup with that shadowed Ross panel...gives you the feeling things are about to get rough. Definitely some cool dialogue top to bottom. I do remember the cover, but haven't read the issue - I'll get to it! Congrats on finding a page from the book - I know it ain't easy with single issues!

Congrats on finding this and picking it up Dave! Love the moody intro on the page and use of light and shadow throughout. What is the Hulk went truly berserk? I think we'd all be dead. :)

Thanks Eric!
Facts - Future Imperfect kind of answered that question and that is pretty much what happened (to all the superheroes at least)

If a mind could be two places at one time
I'd be berserk
General in this page, beside Hulk all his hate
If the world should stop revolving pencilling slowly Wilson lines
Ian Akin with you
And when his inks were through
Then one by one the art pages all Hulk out
Then you and I would simply buy away

One of my favorite stories when I was a kid. The ending with Thor, just great. Fantastic page from such a memorable story.

The inks by Akin & Garvey really elevated the art here. Those guys did some amazing work back in the 1980s.

Great "What if?" issue! And even though it doesn't have the Hulk, this page is very cool. Beautifully drawn and composed by Ron Wilson, it does a superb job of setting up the story. That opening panel of General Ross is killer. And the inks on this page by Ian Arkin and Brian Garvey are superb!

If the Hulk went berzerk, we're all screwed. Love this ambience!
