DescriptionJack Kirby Hulk, page #3 in my collection. I remember a time when I hoped to have a single Kirby page, and for a long time that was probably my biggest bucket list item. Then I finally acquired a page from TTA issue 68. I loved it for so many reasons included in the CAF write up, and more. Then I was fortunate to land an Eternals page featuring the Cosmic Hulk, done is 70s Kirby splendor. Another Kirby? Surely that scratches the itch, right? Nope. So, when the opportunity to land another Kirby twice up page featuring the Hulk from issue 75 showed up, I had to jump again. It seems that the more Kirby I get, the more I want, and my thirst is not satiated.I love so many things about this page Hulk vs the army, missiles flying at the Hulk WHOOSH! the Hulk bounding through the desert at the Far North Coastal Radar tracking station, that killer middle splashy panel (so much bigger on twice up), and the final panel with Thunderbolt Ross planning to use the new T-GUN WHOOM! - to stop the Hulk (he will never learn). Maybe the best part? The editorial dialog and panel descriptions on the margins of the page just thinking about the creation of this page from editorial, to pencils, to inks, dialog ... it being handed around the bullpen in the early days of Marvel gives me the warm and fuzzy feels. Such an amazing piece of history in Hulk and Marvel lore! Am I done with the Kirby Hulk quest? Maybe, but not definitely as I would LOVE to add more. What comes next? An early Hulk page for sure would be the goal. Maybe something from the 1-6 issues? Maybe an early Avengers page? Who knows I hope to find out sooner than later. Social/Sharing |

Congratulations to you. I can only dream of owning any sort of vintage Marvel Silver Age art. But you not only scored a fantastic page, you got a page with your favorite character. So be honest now, did you do your happy dance when you got this? Anyway, congrats again. This is a gem.

I'd jump as far and wide as the Hulk over the desert for this page! It's got the kind of story you'd want with the Hulk bounding around the southwest being hounded by the military. Such a great example too of the Marvel Method with all those notes on the margins.

Such silver age goodness!! This page really demonstrates how epic the Hulk's leaping ability is. And yeah, that middle panel ... outstanding! Major congrats on acquiring another King Kirby page. Hey, when the art is this good, you can NEVER have enough!

That's an absolutely classic Hulk panel 4--you couldn't ask for better. And like you said, seeing the Kirby script in the margins is priceless. Your pic is a little blurry, but I can read enough of them to see examples of what Stan brought to the table in his final script. For example, Kirby has the soldiers yelling "Duck!" as the Hulk hurtles toward them in panel 2, but Stan moves the "Duck!" to panel 3 after the Hulk has already bounced off, perhaps to suggest the slow reaction time of the soldiers? I'm not sure, but you can't deny the Marvel Magic!

Score! What a fabulous Silver Age Kirby Tales to Astonish page! And it's twice-up to boot! Man, you could hardly find a better 1965 Hulk page. Love that middle splash panel with the Hulk leaping and rockets flying around him! It's a stunner of page! Outstanding pick-up, congrats!

Third time's a charm?! I hedge nada :) The middle panel's worth the price of admission alone but the storytelling panels sandwiching it really make the page. Big congrats, Dave, and happy hunting for...the next :)

I love Kirby's rendition of the Hulk. Seeing this reminds me of the Hulk movie by Ang Lee whiich I thought they did a really goodd job. I can only imagine they looked at pages like this as reference
